PHP-CGI Argument Injection (CVE-2024-4577) for 2026-10-05

Last Updated: 00:00 UTC

CVE-2024-4577 lets an attacker pass command-line options to PHP-CGI on Windows by using a soft hyphen (%AD) that Windows best-fit mapping turns into a dash. Requests set allow_url_include and auto_prepend_file=php://input so the POST body runs as PHP. The RedTail cryptomining botnet (User-Agent libredtail-http) sprays this against every host it finds.
