Information about Port 0

  • Port 0 is designated as a wildcard port in Unix operating systems that asks the OS to find a suitable port number. IANA has designated port 0 as a system port which is not to be used for TCP/IP communications. Port 0 can still be used by attackers and is often not handled by firewall devices, however most ISPs block port 0 incoming and outgoing.
